Firefox browser vs. IE browser?

just wanted to know if i switched over to the Firefox browser, would i be using a different media player....IE, for example, uses WIndows Media Player, is there something different for Firefox??......i tempted to switch over just so i wouldnt have to endure the hrs and hrs of updates that you have to go through with IE when you are doing a recovery installation and have to update to IE7 and WMP11 and the countless security updates and whatnot that Microsoft update makes you endure....any thoughts or opinions or suggestions??

WMP11 runs on your computer, so you could open a media file and run it with media player on firefox. Firefox is also a safer browser so you aren't as vulnerable to viruses while surfing the web. It is better to use firefox because of the small updates, faster surfing, and safer.

Both are based on old mozilla code so you can find any plugin that runs at firefox, about activeX and secure issues Microsoft made Explorer core part of SO core so if you want avoid secure issues u should use IE.
Opera is faster than Firefox, but like Firefox it doesn't support all websites. You still need IE and all the updates, to update the Windows operating system and Office products - you won't be saving any time there.
